| Eccl.1.14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Eccl.1.17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. |

| Eccl.2.11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun. Eccl.2.17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Eccl.2.26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit. |
|||
| Eccl.3.21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? | |||
| Eccl.4.4 Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit. Eccl.4.6 Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit. Eccl.4.16 There is no end of all the people, even of all that have been before them: they also that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and vexation of spirit. |
|||
| Eccl.6.9 Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit. | |||
| Eccl.7.8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Eccl.7.9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. |
|||
| Eccl.8.8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it. | |||
| Eccl.10.4 If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences. | |||
| Eccl.11.5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. | |||
| Eccl.12.7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. | |||
| Isa.4.4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. | |||
| Isa.8.19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? | |||
| Isa.11.2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; |
|
||
| Isa.19.3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. Isa.19.14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit. |
|||
| Isa.26.9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. | |||
| Isa.28.6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate. | |||
| Isa.29.4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust. Isa.29.10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Isa.29.24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine. |
|||
| Isa.30.1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: | |||
| Isa.31.3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together. | |||
| Isa.32.15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. | |||

|||
| Isa.42.1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. Isa.42.5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: |
|||
| Isa.44.3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: | |||
| Isa.48.16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. | |||
| Isa.54.6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. | |||
| Isa.57.15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isa.57.16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made. |
|||
| Isa.59.19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. |||

|||
